Letter from our Recruitment Team

Hello Ladies!

Welcome to the University of Memphis! My name is Laura Rowland, and I have the privilege of serving as the 2020 Vice President of Recruitment for Alpha Gamma Delta. To graduating seniors, I know that you were probably looking forward to all of your "lasts" of senior year. Missing big events like prom and graduation must be really difficult, but I can't wait for you to realize that there are so many "firsts" waiting for you here at Memphis! One of those being joining a sorority! Participating in Panhellenic Recruitment was one of the best decisions that I made.

I can honestly say that my college experience would not be the same without my Alpha Gam sisters. They are a constant source of encouragement, empowerment, and motivation for me. We lift each other up and push each other to be the best versions of ourselves. Alpha Gamma Delta provides a place of comfort where we feel loved and supported each and every day. Alpha Gamma Delta aren't just letters that we wear. Alpha Gamma Delta is a chapter full of women who will push you to work harder to reach your full potential. Sisters hold you accountable. They laugh with you, cry with you, and love you. I didn’t realize how strong this love could truly be until I joined Alpha Gam.

Being in a sorority provides you with so many unique opportunities not only socially, but also in your leadership and scholastic endeavors. Alpha Gamma Delta aspires to empower women and help them to further develop their best qualities. Our sisters are leaders, scholars, philanthropists, athletes, and so much more. Going Greek allows you to participate in a community larger than yourself.

Each chapter at the U of M has unique qualities that contribute to the Greek community as a whole. I would like to encourage you to get involved right away by attending Frosh Camp! It is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity and an excellent way to learn about your university as well as meet other incoming students and campus leaders. You will learn more about the Greek experience by attending Frosh Camp and New Student Orientation. My wish for you is that you find a home that gives you all the things that Alpha Gam has given me. Take full advantage of all the University of Memphis has to offer and GO GREEK! Go Tigers Go!

I look forward to meeting you all during Recruitment! I know that each of my sisters cannot wait to show you love, pour into you, serve you, and make lifelong memories with you as you step into this new chapter of life. I will be thinking of you as you embark on this journey to find your sisterhood.

Recruitment Dates are September 9-13, 2020.

With love,
Laura Rowland, Vice President of Recruitment
